First of all. I can’t imagine anyone thinking of me as an outgoing person (and I acknowledge I’m not), but this year, I genuinely want to become more sociable. I’ve always been extremely introverted, and, to say the least, I’m working on this, though internal change might not be visible from a distance. As a bit of a perfectionist, I also want to learn to more quickly satisfied with my school assignments and work. Overall, I would like to stop doubting myself so frequently. Regarding more academic pursuits, I believe it’s important that I learn to better manage my time this year, especially because I’m currently taking a fairly demanding AP class and plan to take a greater number of AP classes my junior year. Additionally, it’s important that I also learn to be more concise with my writing (those in my AP World History class probably know why I'm talking about this). That being said, I should probably work on improving my writing in general too, as I feel I've diminished the quality of my work since freshman year. I'll also be helping tutor AP Human Geography students this year and hope to succeed in doing so. I've had little experience in teaching but honestly want to help others to do well in this somewhat challenging course.
After high school, I want to obtain a college education, whether this be at a four-year university or through transferring from a community college to a university after meeting general education requirements. When it comes to the topic of what sort of career I want later in life, however, is where my ideas begin to dwindle. Perhaps I'd like a career relating to science, though even that I'm not entirely sure about. Although financial security matters to me profusely, I personally just want a job that makes me happy and allows me to comfortably sustain my family in the future.
Sarah! I admire that although you are not the most outgoing person, you are willing to step outside of your comfort zone this year, which, indisputably, takes much courage. I also am factoring your goal of being more concise with your writing in my own life, for, as you know as well, my fondness of writing very fluffy, detailed work does not always go over well in AP World. I also fully agree with your statement about diminishing the quality of your writing, and I feel the exact same way. As far as an idea of what you'd like to pursue, career wise, you have much time to figure it out. I know, for I'm the same way, that you can't help but to worry and ponder on the rest of your life's plan; however, we still have 3 years in high school, including this year, to discover all of our choices and the careers that will allow us to reach our full potential, and I just KNOW that you will amount to many, many great things in life.
