My goals

Setting goals are important because they provide a vision for us to achieve. It allows us to set the foundation of where we want to go in life. Some goals can be small and trivial instead of planning out grand achievements such as starting a business, earning your degree, or receiving your diploma. As a task-oriented person, I don’t have the ability to take out some moments of my life and replace them with the things I want to do. I often regret the chances I could’ve had if I wasn’t much of an introvert, so hopefully within this year I can improve my social skills even if I may come out as awkward at first. It’s a struggle to become a well-balanced person, but in time I will be able to achieve that by focusing more on my physical, mental, and emotional health. As an honors student, I feel that many of us are expected to earn A’s. Glorifying getting A’s is great and all, but sometimes you’ve got to cherish the other, less typically celebrated moments, such as retaking the test you failed the other day and managing to pass this time.
As the future is nearing, I have no clue about what I want to be in life other than attending a four year college. Throughout the few years of high school left, I want to experience various things and find what I'm passionate about. I have an interest in fine arts, but I realized that it’s quite a dodgy terrain to traverse since most artists struggle financially before they become more publicized. I do get a lot of disapproving glances from my family and others for being interested in art, but that does not discourage me. It might be tempting to go into a career that’s more “practical”. But in the end, will you be happy? Sometimes I worry about how I can reach my career goals, financial goals, educational goals, etc. But then I reflect on how far I’ve come and where I’m going in life. I’ve came a long way and even though I have a longer way to go, I’m proud of myself.

  1. When you said, "I often regret the chances I could've had if I wasn't much of an introvert ...," it stood out to me because I understand you completely. What you have to do is tell yourself to do it anyway when you know you are going to pass up another opportunity beforehand. Push yourself to do it because you know that you will regret it if you don't.
