Who is your Batman?

In my life, I'd say the person who best epitomizes Batman would be my grandfather.  Today he is often a bit reserved, a bit similar to Batman and his reclusive demeanor.  Yet I also acknowledge my grandfather is many things Batman is as well:  brave, persistent, a bit stubborn, but all in all willing to make sacrifices if it means greater safety or opportunity for those he loves.  My grandfather is perhaps one of the bravest people I've known personally, and that's largely because of the sacrifices he made and the risks he took for the sake of allowing my family a better life.  To be brief, I'll just note the detail that one side of my family (at least the portion of this side that I know to be in the United States) is made up entirely of refugees.  There were instances in which he clearly had to sacrifice comforts and certain freedoms as to eventually enable family's escape, though he pulled through knowing it was for better in those he cared for.  His persistence through all of this is something I find ties to Batman, especially given Batman's persistence in fighting crime, in spite of the consequences he himself faced in attempts to protect certain individuals.  I also find my grandfather's intellect has aided him in the pursuits I've discussed, and the same is true with Batman.  Other than that, both of these figures seem similar in such aspects as their stubbornness as well as determination to act as indpendent-minded individuals when possible.  Like Batman, my grandfather has retained his character even into old age, and I'm grateful for everything he's done to ensure a better life for his family and eventually myself.
